Jiroemon Kimura was 116 years old when he passed away. He had a life expectancy of 84 years. Amazingly, he lived for 32 years on top of that. He was the oldest living person on earth. Can you imagine living to be a centenarian? Genetics play an important role in health. But there are many things you can do to increase the longevity of your life.
Our diet has a big impact on our health. We must strive to eat a balanced diet. Paying attention to nutritional facts can add years to your life.
Replace all the processed food in your diet with natural, whole foods. Processed foods contain lots of sugar and fat. They are high in calories. Why not swap those chips for potatoes?
Moderate the amount of meat in your diet. Not only is it better for you, it is better for the planet too. Some research shows that the more meat you eat, the higher the risk of early death.
Prioritize healthy plant foods. Lots of research links a plant-based diet to a lower risk of early death. It may also prevent illnesses such as cancer and depression.
Eat more nuts! Nuts are nutritional powerhouses. They are high in protein, fibre, and many vitamins.
Also, add turmeric to your food. Turmeric may seem like a normal spice, but it has anti-aging qualities. It keeps your brain, lungs, and heart working well.
But living a long life is not just about eating a healthy diet. It is also important to keep your body moving. Just 30 minutes of moderate exercise every day can add 2 years to your life. Why not walk instead of drive? Imagine all the fun places you can walk to.
Being active throughout the day has even more health benefits. It can even cure chronic pain. Next time you are watching TV, get up and jump around every time there's a commercial.
As well as diet and exercise, we must make sure to nurture our social circle. Having loved ones in your life can have a big positive impact. Having healthy relationships with your friends and relatives can add 8 years to your life. So while you are eating healthy and exercising, don't forget to socialize!
Everyone has some stress sometimes. But those who can deal with it well can live longer lives. Stress contributes to 99% of illnesses in the world. Some studies show that even chewing some gum can help you deal with stress.
Finally, it is important to be conscientious. That means you should be organized and have self-discipline. Studies show that people like this live 11% longer. You are more likely to deal with stress. You are more likely to care about your health. You are less likely to make dangerous decisions.
It's never too late to become more conscientious. Tidy your desk. Stick to a work plan. Be on time for things. Believe it or not, these are all ways to help you live longer.
Thanks to science we are learning how to live a long, healthy life. Maybe 116 years old will be an average life expectancy in the near future.
