Ellen: Hello!
Lizzie: Hello.
Ellen: Hello. What's your name?
Lizzie: My name's Lizzie.
Ellen: Uh-huh, Lizzie. And, uh, what grade are you in, Lizzie?
Lizzie: I'm in third grade.
Ellen: So you're ten?
Lizzie: No, I'm eight.
Ellen: Eight. Yeah, that was gonna guess eight next. I was gonna just keep going. All right. And, uh, you've got something on your shoes there. What kind of... this is your invention. And, and what made you think of whatever this is?
Lizzie: Well, in Connecticut, we get a lot of snow. And on the weekends, um, during a snowstorm, my dad goes out and shovels the driveway while my mom likes to sleep in.
Ellen: No. Well, that's a sweet dad that you have there that goes out and shovels the driveway. So, and, uh, you came up with something to help, it seems. Okay.
Lizzie: And it makes shoveling the driveway more fun.
Ellen: Fun, too. Which would be great to have fun and, and accomplish something at the same time, right? Isn't that always the best way? Great. Okay, so let's, uh, see. What's this? Take this off?
Ellen: Okay, there's snow in here. Do you need help?
Lizzie: No, I'm fine.
Ellen: Okay.
Lizzie: It's kind of hard doing this with both feet.
Ellen: Wow! That's great! That's great!
Ellen: That's a wonderful idea. That's a really good idea. Somebody should do that. Okay, you gonna stay in there or you coming out? What do you want to do?
Lizzie: I'm staying in here.
Ellen: Yeah, it's fun. You stay in there. All right. Thank you.
Ellen: Hi! What's your name?
Kendra: Kendra.
Ellen: Hi, Kendra. And, uh, what grade are you in?
Kendra: Fourth.
Ellen: Fourth. And so you're, uh, eight.
Kendra: Nine.
Ellen: Yeah. All right. So, uh, you're nine. And what did you come up with?
Kendra: Um, it's the Baither.
Ellen: The Baither?
Kendra: Mm-hmm.
Ellen: Okay. It's an entire device that bathes you?
Kendra: No, you put it on your head.
Ellen: Okay.
Kendra: And it scrubs your back.
Ellen: Wow! That's great!
Ellen: Are you getting a good scrub like that?
Kendra: Yeah.
Ellen: Yeah, you'll get real clean. That's great. Kendra, that's a wonderful idea. What made you think of that? You couldn't reach or something one day?
Kendra: No, I was watching my cat and he was cleaning himself and he couldn't reach his back. And it got me thinking how people with broken arms could reach back there and scrub their back.
Ellen: What a wonderful idea for someone that can't... Kendra, that's very smart. Get one for your cat, too.
Ellen: All right.
Ellen: Now, you're not wearing a mic because are you going to get in that tub or something? What's your name?
Griffin: Griffin.
Ellen: Griffin. And what grade are you in?
Griffin: Fourth grade.
Ellen: So you're ten.
Griffin: Mm-hmm.
Ellen: Ah! Eight, nine, ten. I knew I'd get it sometime. Griffin, what did you invent here? A bathtub? I've seen them before, by the way. Someone's already invented that.
Griffin: Um, it's an arm that holds your book over the bathtub.
Ellen: All right, let's take a look. He's on his way.
Griffin: And you can... and well, I came up with the idea when I saw my mom in her book with the bathtub. I just walked by, I didn't mean to...
Ellen: So...
Griffin: Get in. And, um, you can adjust it like this to see your reading point of view.
Griffin: And you can easily turn the page by just doing this and un-clipping it.
Ellen: Right. That's a wonderful idea. Griffin, that's great. All right.
Ellen: We have one more kid inventor right here and your name is?
Chris: Chris.
Ellen: Chris. And Chris, what grade are you in?
Chris: I'm in fourth grade.
Ellen: You are ten.
Chris: Nine.
Ellen: Ten. All right. And, uh, you have a helmet, so there's some kind of danger involved, I would imagine.
Chris: Yes.
Ellen: What is it and what made you want to do it?
Chris: Well, it is a fan-powered skateboard.
Ellen: A fan-powered skateboard?
Chris: Yes.
Ellen: Oh, that's... so there's no effort involved.
Chris: Well, yes.
Ellen: Okay.
Chris: And all's you have to do is push off when you turn it on. And my idea coming up with it is people get tired of riding their skateboard by pushing it just with their feet.
Ellen: They sure do. I know I do. All right, let's take a look at it.
Ellen: Okay, let's take a look at it.
Ellen: That's great! That's great!
Ellen: And then you just turn it off when you're done, right? That's a wonderful invention. That's really fantastic.
Ellen: Thank you so much, all of you, for sharing your ideas and your inventions. You're all getting an Apple MacBook computer with a built-in seven-hour battery and iSight camera worth over a thousand dollars!
