Who is the fastest? Who is the strongest? We are always trying to find answers to these questions. We have seen lots of records so far. Athletes hold their share of records too! From speed to strength to fitness, there are lots of sporty records to see.
Are you fit enough to beat this record? In 2019, Gaber Kahlawi Gaber Ali completed 116 jumping jacks in one minute. He holds many records. He also completed 67 consecutive cartwheels in one minute. He is very fit.
Imagine being able to say you are the fastest human on the planet. Well Usain Bolt can! He holds two running world records. He ran 100 metres in 9.58 seconds. He ran 200 metres in 19.19 seconds. He has won many Olympic gold medals for Jamaica.
Hafthor Björnsson is famous in the world of strongman. Strongman is a sport that measures strength. He holds the record for the heaviest deadlift. He lifted 501kg in May 2020.
A deadlift is when you lift a bar from the floor to a standing position. It uses your whole body. It is a difficult exercise. Somebody that can lift over 500kg has insane strength!
The last record was set in 2016 by Eddie Hall. For 4 years it was unbreakable. But Hafthor smashed the record. Both athletes have stopped competing now. It is up to a new strongman to break the record.
Sport teams track their wins and losses. In 1993, the Pittsburgh Penguins won 17 games in a row. They hold the record for the longest winning streak in the National Hockey League.
The Penguins hold another record in the NHL. They are also the team with the longest losing streak! They lost 18 games in a row in 2003-2004.
But 17 wins seems like nothing compared to the Los Angeles Lakers. They are a basketball team. In 1972, they won 33 games in a row.
There are thousands of sport records to break. If you are strong, fit, or fast, there's one for you to attempt. Which sport-related record would you most like to try?
