Eating your way around the world isn't the only method to experience different countries. There are many unique activities to do wherever your travels take you. Are you brave enough to try all of them?
Many people think volcanoes are dangerous and prefer to stay away from them. So it's fair to say that volcano surfing is definitely not for the fainthearted. First, the participants must hike up the volcano and then descend by sliding down. This can be done either in a sitting or standing position on top of a thin piece of plywood. The most popular place for this sport is in western Nicaragua.
There are many potential dangers associated with volcano surfing. Falling from the hike or the surf could do quite a bit of damage as the volcanic ash is rough. There’s also the danger of breathing in harmful and poisonous gases. The lava from the volcano is also a concern and could pose a serious threat. Some volcanoes are still active, so it's a good time to skedaddle before it erupts!
You may have gone swimming before, but have you done it in a clear acrylic pool 10 stories high? The first transparent pool of its kind, named Sky Pool, is located in London. It sits between two residential towers and is only available for the residents there. This 10 ft deep pool looks like a bridge between the two buildings.
Skywalks are popular for anyone looking for a picturesque and unobtrusive view of the city or country they're visiting. Each skywalk is unique and encompasses different structures and views. Skywalks can be part of a larger building, or they can be found on bluffs, utilising what is already present in nature. Some were built protruding out of a structure. Others were designed to go around, encircling the building while offering 360-degree views.
One of the most famous skywalks is the Sky Tower in New Zealand. Jutting out of the tallest building in the country at 192m, this showpiece offers a panorama view that can only be considered breathtaking. This may not be for those who are afraid of heights, since there are no handrails.
If you want to explore more skywalks, then Grand Canyon West is your next destination. This skywalk gives a 4000 ft view below. Once you step out onto the skywalk, it feels like stepping out into mid-air. But don't worry, this skywalk is strong enough to hold seventy passenger jets. If you're craving more action, you can try the 3200 ft zip line too! Or if you prefer to wind down and visit an idyllic place, you can also eat at the Sky View Restaurant.
If hectic activities don't sound attractive to you, then what about a scenic cable car ride? Cable cars have a variety of uses. Some places use them to get skiers and snowboarders up the mountain. For others, cable cars are simply part of their everyday commute.
The Aiguille du Midi cable car in France offers some of the most beautiful views. This cable car can take adventure seekers to go skiing, mountain climbing, hiking, and much more. There are different stops, including at the Aiguille summit. It has a platform that offers panoramic views. For visitors looking to purchase a souvenir or a special keepsake to remember this trip, there is a gift shop available.
To fully enjoy the views a glass skywalk, "Step into the Void," was put in place at the peak of the summit. This skywalk features a glass ceiling, glass floors, and glass walls. The three-layered glass supported by a metal frame is strong and durable. Visitors can admire the peaks without worrying about safety.
It can be difficult to find the loo or the bathroom in the middle of nowhere; however, if you happen to be in Wiwannihütte, Switzerland then you're in luck! This place is home to a toilet with one of the most spectacular views. With the scenery, you might forget what you went to the bathroom for in the first place!
Not all trips go as planned. Sometimes even the most meticulously planned agenda goes awry. Just remember to enjoy the local activities and follow the given guidelines.
