5-4 World's Tallest Dog

Denise: My name's Denise Doorlag. We have the Guinness World Record for the world's tallest dog. Our dog's name is Zeus and he is three years old. He's a Great Dane. He is 44 inches tall and he weighs 155 pounds.

Well, when we were trying to think of names, I wanted a big name for a big dog. We knew that he would be large, not quite so large, but my husband Kevin actually wanted to go with something like Tiny or Peanut or something crazy like that, but we decided to go with Zeus and it fits him very well.

Zeus has a very laid-back, gentle personality. He gets along very well with our other animals. He gets along well with anybody that we meet in the street. He is a pet therapy dog, so he's very comfortable around people and is always very gentle around them.

Things cost more for a large dog. We go through a lot of dog food. He eats about a 30-pound bag every two weeks. We had to get a van really for transporting him because he's very uncomfortable in a regular seat of a car, so we had to take out the back seat in the van so that he has room to get around.

He really likes to sleep on our bed. If he's thirsty, he comes out and we turn on the water faucet in the kitchen for him. That's where he likes to get his drinks from. And he loves to play. We take him outside, he can play with the dogs, and he enjoys walking too, so we often take walks.

To be able to say that we own the world's tallest dog is very exciting. The kids are just so excited about it and it's so cool. It's just an opportunity of a lifetime.
